Our Story

Growing up in Trinidad, I was always surrounded by the vibrant mix of cultures and the amazing food. Trinidad has so many amazing things that you can’t find anywhere else. It’s a mix of culture like no other place in the world: In the last hundred years, it’s been filled by British, French, Indian, Chinese, Creole, African and Spanish - all the way back to Christopher Columbus.

When I moved to the US, I realized how special it really was: The food, the culture, the landscape, the weather, the family gatherings, the carnivals.

I started to think: how can I share my culture?

Trini Pepper Sauce is made from a recipe from my family in Trinidad. We use hand-picked Scotch Bonnet Peppers and Scorpion Peppers, grown in Trinidad, only miles from where my Grandmother lives. She's the one who passed down the Trini Pepper Sauce recipe, and taught me how to make it when I was young.

We source the peppers from Trinidad because the soil in Trinidad is unique. We tried to use the Scotch Bonnet Peppers grown in the United States, but they just don't have the same flavor. We think it has to do with the soil they're grown in - In Trinidad, you can literally plant anything and it will flourish.

Trini sauce is different than any sauce on the market today. The peppers are fresh, and shipped to the US directly from Trinidad. Unlike other sauces, we never use frozen peppers. While other sauces are hot, true Trinidad hot sauce has a sweet taste to it, and still maintains a lingering heat to it.

Since I was a little boy, I’ve wanted to share my culture, to show how special it is to share a land that is filled with different cultures, different languages, different flavors, and amazing food.

Sharing your culture is something I think everyone should do, and I hope you’ll join me in enjoying the amazing culture of Trinidad.
